Cap de la Hague and Nez de Jobourg
At the far north-west, Cap de la Hague and Nez de Jobourg raise some of France’s highest cliffs, where the ocean roars underfoot. The tiny port of Goury and the Gatteville lighthouse, one of the tallest in Europe, complete the scene. You walk together, wrapped up well, then share a salted-butter crêpe facing the sea spray: Normandy at its most intense.
Écalgrain Beach and the Hague moors
Écalgrain Beach, nestled in a wild bay, is one of the most beautiful in the Manche: golden sand, cliffs, ochre moorlands in autumn. The GR 223 coastal paths run along the shore for kilometres, ideal for a shared hike. You rarely meet many people, and the light changes every minute, driven by swift clouds coming off the open sea.
Val de Saire and Cotentin marshes
On the east side, the Val de Saire lines up picturesque little ports like Barfleur, once home to fishermen. To the south, the Cotentin marshes unfold wet meadows, canals and quiet villages, a paradise for birds and for lovers of calm. On Lyad, members from the Cotentin share their favourite coves; it is up to you to find someone to walk the wind with.
